The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Today afternoon, at least 18 students were killed after a commercial building in Surat caught fire. The fire broke out in the third and fourth floor of the building and many were seen jumping off the multi-storeyed building. Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan was also deeply saddened by the occurring and wished for things to return to normalcy at the earliest.
After the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted about the incident: “Extremely anguished by the fire tragedy in Surat. My thoughts are with bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. Have asked the Gujarat Government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected.”
England women’s cricketer Heather Knight was delighted after getting to interact with players from Oman. Sachin Tendulkar posted a video where he was seen enjoying the pleasant weather in Kerala. Former England cricketer Monty Panesar thanked Nasser Hussain for an interview and allowing him to be ‘honest and open’.
The results of the General Elections came out yesterday and Sanjay Manjrekar reckoned that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory was equivalent to the Indian cricket team beating Papua New Guinea. Former Pakistan bowler Saeed Ajmal posted a few pictures along with his daughter. Mohammad Kaif posted a picture along with Yuvraj Singh and reminisced the Natwest 2002 final against England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Kaif was the Player of the Match in that epic encounter. He also wished India and Virat Kohli for the upcoming World Cup. Ajinkya Rahane was happy after Hampshire’s 244-run victory against Nottinghamshire. Rahane scored a superlative century in the second innings, batting at number three.
