Clinching their first victory of IPL 2020, Kings XI Punjab thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs at Dubai International Stadium. KXIP skipper KL Rahul stole the show in his side’s second encounter in the IPL.
Facing Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul took bowlers to cleaners with his whirlwind batting display. RCB’s bowling unit was left hapless, especially in the last four overs where it conceded as many as 74 runs.
Rahul, while pulling off one of the best IPL knocks, smashed 132 off 69 balls and also clinched the Man of the Match award. In response to KXIP’s 206-run total, RCB suffered a batting collapse and eventually fizzled out on just 109 runs. After the lopsided encounter, Twitter lauded Rahul for his scintillating knock which played a vital role in KXIP’s impressive victory.
RCB skipper Virat Kohli, on the other hand, was trolled for his woeful fielding and batting. The 31-year-old dropped Rahul on two occasions and it eventually proved costly for the Bangalore side. Kohli also flopped with the bat as he was able to amass only a single run.
Apart from tweets about the T20 extravaganza of IPL 2020, tributes also poured in for Dean Jones, who breathed his last on Thursday. Jones, a part of commentary panel of IPL 2020 which was operating in Mumbai, suffered a cardiac arrest. He even had commentated in yesterday’s IPL encounter between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
One of the most respected figures of the cricket fraternity, Jones suffered a cardiac arrest in the hotel he was living in. Several prominent names including Virat Kohli, Michael Clarke, Babar Azam, Harbhajan Singh, David Warner and Shoaib Akhtar mourned Jones’ untimely demise.
