The biggest talking point on social media today among the cricketers was the injury that was sustained by Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer. Iyer dislocated his shoulder in the first ODI against England and has now been sidelined from the game. Not only will he play no further part in the ODI series between India and England, but he will also miss the entire 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). And now, Iyer himself has tweeted about the love and support that he has received.
Today also marks the 29th anniversary of Pakistan’s sensational World Cup triumph in 1992. Led by the charismatic Imran Khan, the Pakistan side beat England by 22 runs to emerge as the World Champions. The legendary Wasim Akram received the Man of the Match award for scalping 3 wickets in the game. And now, several Pakistan legends ranging from Mushtaq Ahmed to Wasim Akram have reflected back on the greatest moment in Pakistan cricket history.
Sri Lanka staged an incredible fightback in the second innings with the willow in the first Test against the West Indies at Antigua. Led by a scintillating century on debut by Pathum Nissanka, Sri Lanka plundered 476 runs in their second innings and has set the West Indies a daunting target of 375 for victory. And, several Sri Lankan cricketers have lauded the Sri Lankan side for their splendid fightback. Having got the overview, let us take a deep dive….
