The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Australia and England faced off in a warm-up match of the World Cup 2019 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. In that game, Steve Smith scored an awe-inspiring century off 94 deliveries with the help of eight boundaries and three sixes. He was booed by the crowd, but the situation didn’t get to his nerves and he played until the final over.
Former Englishman Michael Vaughan feels that the world will see a lot of Smith this summer. India and New Zealand also locked horns in another warm-up match at the Kennington Oval in London. The Men in Blue won the toss and elected to bat first following which the Black Caps bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals. Aakash Chopra feels that India’s decision wasn’t wrong since it was a practice match.
Brad Hogg shared a video where he is analysing India’s chances in the World Cup. Ishant Sharma posted a picture along with his family members. RP Singh posted a video playing with his daughter. Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was excited to play his maiden World Cup. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan posted his lean and thin photo in the Bangladesh national jersey.
Herschelle Gibbs was happy after South Africa managed to beat Sri Lanka by 87 runs in their first warm-up match at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. Vinod Kambli wished Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali on their wedding anniversary, posting an adorable picture of the couple. Former Aussie paceman Glenn McGrath is eagerly waiting for the World Cup to get underway.
1. Hogg analyses
#CWC2019: And last but not the least, it's the giants INDIA that we'll whizz through the MEN IN BLUE. Are they REALLY the strongest team in this World Cup? Are there any holes in this side? Time to investigate this in today's episode of #HoggsVlog. After all it's #hoggytime! pic.twitter.com/GBCNDLBq4E

6. Chopra defends India’s decision to bat first
Batting first wasn’t a mistake. It was indeed the right thing to do…if you don’t challenge yourself in warm-up games, when will you? And you could also lose the toss in these conditions…. #INDvNZ #CWC19

14. McGrath looking forward to the World Cup
View this post on Instagram
Looking forward to the 2019 Cricket World Cup starting on May 30. My 3 top teams are England, India & of course Australia. As much as it kills me to say, @englandcricket are the favourites, they’ve got a good team & play a great brand of quality, aggressive ODI cricket. @indiancricketteam play a similar style of cricket but how will they go on UK wickets? Australia, well they’re peaking at the right time. With wins against India in India & Pakistan in the UAE their confidence will be up plus the added boost of having @steve_smith49 & @davidwarner31 back. I think the Aussies can lift the cup again but the English are going to be tough to beat #cricketworldcup2019
