MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Delhi Capitals in the seventh match of the IPL 2020. After winning the toss and putting DC to bat first, CSK witnessed the batting brilliance of Prithvi Shaw. Hunting down a challenging 175-run total, CSK managed to amass only 131 runs on the board as they handed over a 44-run triumph to the Delhi franchise.
The Mumbai starlet slammed a stellar half-century to guide his side to a sturdy start. He missed to score a ton but made a vital contribution by scoring 64 runs off just 43 deliveries. He was also assisted by fellow opener Shikhar Dhawan, who scored a 27-ball 35.
After the pair’s departure, Rishabh Pant (37) and Shreyas Iyer (26) stitched vital runs in the middle over as DC put up a 175-run total on the scoreboard. CSK veteran Piyush Chawla emerged as their most successful bowler as he sent both the openers to the pavilion.
Coming on to CSK’s run-chase, the Yellow Army started it off with a shaky start, losing both their openers– Murali Vijay and Shane Watson– in the Powerplay. Gaikwad was also shown the exit door in the 10th over.
After being struck with three blows, Kedar Jadhav and Faf du Plessis did stitch a 50-run partnership but it was eventually broken by Andrich Nortje. He trapped Jadhav in front to make CSK’s pursuit look impractical. In the end, the Chennai side required 75 from the last four overs.
Controversy also erupted all over the internet over Sunil Gavaskar’s recent comments about Anushka Sharma. The former India opener, while commentating in RCB’s game, talked about a video of ‘Virushka’ which had surfaced during the lockdown. In the clip, they were seen playing cricket in their building compound.
Misquoting Gavaskar’s comment, many fans bashed him as they felt that he had passed a sexist remark on Anushka. Even Anushka asked the reason for dragging her name and felt that people are unnecessarily taking her name during a match.
Meanwhile, tributes also poured in for legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who passed away today in Chennai. The 74-year-old was showing signs of recovery before his health slumped and it led to critical conditions. Many well-known names like Vijay Shankar, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Ravi Shastri mourned the veteran singer’s demise.

.@akshar2026, @KagisoRabada25, @MishiAmit and @AnrichNortje02 stood up collectively to not give #CSK a chance on a wicket which was good to bat. #DC will be thrilled to have made it two in two, while #CSK have a lot of thinking to do.#ProGyaan #IPL2020 #CSKvDC

Two back to back matches where #CSK never looked in the scheme of things with the bat. With 6 days break before the next game, they certainly have to get back their best players in the XI to stand a chance #CSKvDC

Not the result everyone expected from @ChennaiIPL

15. Harsha Bhogle points out CSK’s flaws after their defeat
#CSK are one of the marquee teams of the #Dream11IPL. The tournament needs them to come back strongly & show more intent at the top. The return of Rayudu will be an important factor & they must ask more of Jadeja. With a decent start and Dhoni at No 4/5 things could be different
