Cricketing Trends on Social Media today

The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian captain and BCCI president, had to be admitted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain. It was on January 7 when he was released from the Woodlands hospital after he suffered a mild heart attack on January 2. More updates on his recovery remain to be seen. In the meantime, the cricketing fraternity sent their prayers for the Prince of Kolkata. Left-hander Shikhar Dhawan also dropped a tweet, wishing for Ganguly’s speedy recovery.

The second day of the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa took place at the National Stadium in Karachi. After bowling the visitors out for 220 runs, Pakistan found themselves in dire straits, losing four wickets with only 27 runs on the board. Imran Butt, Abid Ali, Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi got out in single digits and the Proteas were well and truly on the driver’s seat.

However, Fawad Alam scored a century and helped Pakistan take a lead by the end of the second day. Former Test captain Azhar Ali also chipped in with a gutsy half-century. Former fast bowler Hamid Hasan was happy after Afghanistan beat Ireland 3-0 in the ODI series.
