Steve Smith who was the leading run-scorer in Tests last year couldn’t quite replicate his performance in 2016. If we call it a dull year for him with the bat it would be just by his standards. He was leading Australia through tough times and was the only other experienced batsman in the team along with David Warner. Bringing un-orthodoxness in with him Smith played a quantifiable knock or two in most series’ the team played.

Towards the end, it was a hard time for Australia as they lost the South Africa in the Test series at home and are up against Pakistan now before flying all the way to India for another gruelling tour. Though he has a lot to work out as far as captaincy is concerned Smith the batsman passed the year with 914 runs in his account which he scored with an average of 60.93. He couldn’t impress our fans with his show and secured only 4% votes.
