In Azhar Ali Pakistan have a batsman who can continue the legacy of the likes of Mohammad Yusuf and Younis Khan. Right from the time he played domestic cricket he has the right approach for the longer format of the game. Patience is the key for a batsman in Test cricket and Ali has plenty of it. At various stages in his career, the opening batsman has shown that he can stand tall despite the conditions and situation being unfavourable.

He has scored three scores of 200 plus in the year and converted one of them into a triple century, the first in day-night Test cricket against the pink ball. Whenever Ali has scored he has scored big and has been sort of Pakistan’s overseas specialist batsman playing special knocks one after the other. In 2016, before the Boxing day Test, he amassed 1089 runs with a spectacular average of 60.50. The fans loved him and received tons of votes but couldn’t beat one man and had to end on the second place with 28% votes.
