CSK fails to get interim relief, Court adjourned till September 23: The Madras High Court has denied an interim relief for the Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd (CSKL) who filed a petition asking a stay on Lodha Committee’s verdict slammed on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that slapped a two-year ban on the team from IPL. The RM Lodha panel was appointed by the Supreme Court.

The two judges, Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice TS Sivagnanam have suspended the case to 23rd September. The court has declared verbally that meanwhile any decision taken by the BCCI will be the Court’s final order as well. On September 23 the Court will meet to hear the “maintainability and merits.”

The Lodha panel had given its verdict on the suspension of the two franchises, CSK and Rajasthan Royals and banned them from the IPL for the next two years, following the involvement of the CSK’s Gurunath Meiyanppa and RR’s owner Raj Kundra in the spot fixing controversy of IPL 2013.

The petition that followed in order to retrieve Chennai Super Kings came from head of India Cements who owns the team. He filed a petition on August 17, asking to put an interim stay on the decision taken by the Lodha committee, nullify the decision and ask BCCI to recall Chennai Super Kings into the IPL.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) working committee is to meet in Kolkata on August 28 to discuss the course of action. The working committee of the BCCI is the group that takes care of the affairs. The working committee will come to a final decision on Friday at the meeting. The lingering question is, will the Board decide to back the team or will it wait for the court to voice its decision on 23rd September.
