In a blow for the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the team against a group stage encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against DC, being played at the DY Patil Sports Academy on May 8 (Sunday).

The Yellow Army skipper MS Dhoni during the coin toss mentioned that the ace all-rounder is “unfit,” and the reason behind his absence is due to an arm injury. It may be noted that the left-handed batter made a decent run to catch the ball with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Mahipal Lomror completely losing his balance and mishitting the ball. In an attempt to catch the ball, Jadeja fell directly on his left arm and is most probably out due to the same reason. The former CSK skipper then sat on the ground, before he resumed his fielding.

Ravindra Jadeja is having a poor outing in IPL 2022

Jadeja was named as the CSK skipper before the start of IPL 2022. However, he had a horrible time as a skipper with CSK winning just two from the first eight matches. The left-handed batter has not been able to perform with the bat as he has managed to score just 116 runs in ten matches. Similarly, he has only scalped five wickets with the ball.

Meanwhile, the Yellow Army has named talented all-rounder Shivam Dube as Jadeja’s replacement. To note, Dube played some vital knocks for the defending champions before he was dropped from the team. Apart from his batting, Dube can also contribute with the ball, bowling some medium pace.

In another change, veteran Dwayne Bravo has made his return to the side from injury. The right-arm pacer is currently the leading wicket-taker for CSK and can hit the ball very long during the death overs.

CSK Playing XI against DC: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, MS Dhoni (wk/c), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Maheesh Theekshana, Simarjeet Singh, and Mukesh Choudhary
