Dale Steyn hails India's fast-bowling unit as the best in the world

One of the biggest developments in Indian cricket during the course of this decade is how fast bowling unit has developed into one of the most potent bowling attacks in the world. As an average Indian fan who threw up watching cricket in the 1990s and 2000s, we always dreamt of having a fast bowling unit that could bamboozle opposition batsmen at will and instil a sense of fear in them in terms hostility.

That is not to say that India didn’t have fast bowlers prior to this generation. The likes of Javagal Srinath, Kapil Dev, and Zaheer Khan dominated the proceeding all over the world with their skills with the likes of Venkatesh Prasad, RP Singh, S Sreesanth, Ashish Nehra, Irfan Pathan, playing supporting roles at various different stages

. But, what India lacked was a potent group of 4-5 fit and in-form fast bowlers bowling in unison. And, in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, and Umesh Yadav, India have that fast bowling unit, one that is not only bamboozling the opposition with their craft but also befuddling them with sustained hostility.

And, such has been their impact that even the great Dale Steyn is not shying away from hailing them as the best fast bowling unit in the world currently. Steyn- the champion fast bowler- was involved in a Question-Answer session on Twitter where he answered a whole range of questions, and when one of the fans asked him about the best fast bowling attack in the world, Steyn was quick to respond that India currently is the best in that department.

Dale Steyn also spoke of South Africa’s chances in the upcoming Test series against England

This is not the first time that an Indian pace attack has been held in such high esteem by a foreign cricketer. Recently, during the India-West Indies Test series, the likes of Brian Lara and Andy Roberts had likened India’s attack to the fearsome West Indian attack of the 1980s.

Meanwhile, Dale Steyn, who was recently bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL auctions, also spoke on South Africa’s chances in the upcoming Test series against England.

Replying to a fan’s question, Steyn also said,” Big chance… England wasn’t convincing in New Zealand, that’s not to say they are not good. I’m just saying they didn’t look the part. Under Bouch (head coach Mark Boucher) I feel we have it covered, but it’s going to be exciting,” said Steyn.
