Darren Sammy thanks Pakistan fans in Pashto language

West Indies won the World T20 for the second time defeating the English team in the finals that were played on Sunday at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Windies became the first team to win the 20 over World Cup two times, to go along with two 60 over World Cup wins to their name.
West Indies captain Darren Sammy also took time out of their celebrations to thank his Pakistani fans in the local Pashto language. Sammy recently played for Peshawar Zalmi team in the Pakistan Super League and he thanked the supporters for showing support for his team at the World T20 2016.
Sammy said,”I want to thank my Pakistani supporters for their support and will come to Peshawar soon. God bless Javed Afridi.” Javed Afridi is the owner of the Pakistan Super League team Peshawar Zalmi and is the CEO of Haier, Pakistan. The Peshawar Zalmi team is led by Shahid Afridi and the team ended the tournament at no.3 position.
Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi tweeted saying that he announces a sum of $20,000 dollars for the captain of West Indies Darren Sammy in appreciation of him showing great team spirit in the tournament.

Afridi also announced a prize of $5,000 for Peshawar Zalmi opener Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh who scored most runs in the World T20, including a century in the qualifying stages of the tournament. Tamim Iqbal replied on seeing the tweet that he was humbled by Javed Afridi’s gesture of giving him a prize and said, “Very humbled by your gesture&appreciation @JAfridi10 Not every1 appreciates achievements.Glad 2 hav been acquainted with you.#peshawarzalmi”

Sammy had said during the start of Pakistan Super League that he was learning to speak Pashto and the owner of the team Afridi was impressed by his command of the language. Sammy said,” Shahid Afridi saw my video and said he was shocked to see me speaking Pashto. It’s all part of the fun of mingling with people from different cultures and playing around the world.”
