Australia’s David Warner isn’t playing International or domestic cricket for the next one year as he was banned by Cricket Australia for his involvement in the ball-tampering case. He had to miss out on the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2018 as well but he is soon to make a comeback in the T20 arena. Warner has been signed by franchises in the Global T20 Canada and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

In the CPL, he got a contract from the St Lucia Stars and the team is delighted to get hold of the left-hander for his services this season. Warner’s skipper, Darren Sammy welcomed him to the side and wrote- “Welcome on board champion.” The Australian is one of those individuals who misses no opportunity to find the funny side of things and he did that yet again.

Warner is currently serving a ban for allegedly masterminding the whole ball-tampering fiasco and St Lucia play their home matches at Gros Islet. There is a Test match underway at the moment between Windies and Sri Lanka at the same ground. On Saturday the Sri Lankan players denied to walk out and start play after the umpires decided to change the ball and impose a penalty on skipper Dinesh Chandimal for tampering with the ball.

Warner takes a dig at the stadium

Warner took a dig at the incident that happened at the ground which co-relates to him and wrote- “Thanks legend, I look forward to playing at that famous stadium mate. @darrensammy88”

Warner was not initially a part of their plans and was added as a replacement for compatriot D’Arcy Short who had to walk out of the league due to national commitments. Short has been picked in the Australia A team for the tour of India and it will clash with the Caribbean T20 league.

The opener will want to keep his cricketing momentum going in this period before he is eligible for a national comeback.
