The Delhi Daredevils franchise has not enjoyed a good run of form in the current season of the Indian Premier League as they now find themselves in the sixth position in the table. The team has not chased down modest targets well and the youngsters in the team have not yet performed up to their abilities.

The Delhi team has only won two of their first 6 games and has 4 points in their bag. Among the youngsters, only Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have shown glimpses of their class but they too have been highly inconsistent. But former Indian batsman and the mentor of the Delhi Daredevils Rahul Dravid is confident that their youngsters will turn things around in the next 7-8 matches.

The former dependable batsman also had a laugh about the fact that despite being at the sixth position in the table Delhi has the second highest net run rate among the 8 Indian Premier League teams. Dravid who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL has full faith in his players and is confident of making it to the top four.

“I still have full faith in youngsters. The league is still at the halfway stage. It’s kind of funny that we are still sixth in the table with the highest net run rate (second highest to KKR). So I have full faith in our youngsters that they will turn it around in the next 7-8 matches”

Dravid also hailed the availability of proper training in all parts of the country for young cricketers in India.

“We have seen over time how talented cricketers from small towns have gone on to represent the country with distinction. This is because they had the requisite skill set and also proper training was available for them. This is something commendable”
