Virat Kohli, looking at the performances he has put up in the recent past is considered one of the greatest batsmen not only in India but in the world right now. Moreover, his hard work and determination have helped him evolve as one of the fittest cricketers in the circuit.

Recently former Indian coach Dav Whatmore said that Kohli’s greatest step towards self-improvement was his eagerness to get fitter. Kohli who is now the skipper of the Indian side in all formats has sacrificed a lot in order to get fitter. The talented batsman is known to have given up his favorite food to cut down on calorie intake and thus is now one of the most athletic fielders in the Indian squad. The experienced coach was also all praise for Kohli’s determination to work on his weaknesses.

Whatmore who has been closely following Kohli since his under-19 days spoke about how the batsman has changed as a cricketer.

Whatmore quoted the Times of India “I see no difference in his [Kohli’s] approach then and now. He is always physical, aggressive and leads from the front. Where he turned the corner was his conscious decision to reduce weight. By doing that he made a massive statement; you are telling everyone that I am doing everything on my part to ensure my performances go up. “

“Earlier, the opposition teams would plan to get him outside the off-stump. In England, Virat didn’t have a good series (in 2014). But now when I see him play through the off-side, the bat comes down straight and the face of the bat is hitting the ball. He has been able to conquer the grey areas in his batting and the result is there for all of us to see. Virat has become a phenomenal player
