One of the highlights of the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 was Yuvraj Singh’s enthralling display in India’s encounter against England. The world was in awe of the southpaw after he slammed Stuart Broad six sixes in an over and went on to stitch a majestic 14-ball 58.

Yuvraj’s heroics ultimately made the difference as India clinched the match by a margin of 18 runs. The MS Dhoni-led side eventually scripted history as they clinched the trophy by defeating Pakistan in the final of the showpiece event.

After his on-field altercation with Andrew Flintoff, Yuvraj’s eventually unleashed his fury against Broad in the very next over. Along with visuals of Yuvraj hitting six maximums against Broad, fans also remember Ravi Shastri’s exciting commentary in the background. Shastri’s voice added the magic touch and made the experience even more thrilling for every Indian fan.

While reminiscing Yuvraj’s show, David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd revealed how he tweaked the commentator’s line-up to ensure that Ravi Shastri was in the box when the left-hander was about to face Broad.

Lloyd was speaking on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast where he, along with Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton and host Rob Key discussed the incident. It was Key who brought up the topic.

David Lloyd also praised Yuvraj Singh’s batting

“We did a thing with Ravi Shastri earlier on, and he said – you may not remember this, Bumble – but you actually … not changed the comm rota, but you said, ‘Ravi, you should be on now towards the end of this innings.’ Is that right?” remembered Key.

“That’s right,” Lloyd affirmed. “You know sometimes, these producers haven’t a clue when they’re doing those comm rotas! So I just switched it slightly.”

Lloyd’s judgment was spot on as Shastri did a terrific job of commentating when Yuvraj was wreaking havoc all over the stadium. Lloyd also remembered that Yuvraj was just flicking against Broad and the ball was going over the rope.

“[He was] absolutely brilliant, Ravi was all over it,” said Lloyd. “It was terrific. Broady was going around the park, and that batting … Yuvraj was just flicking it. Just a little flick, and off it went. Brilliant,” added Lloyd.
