The Surisers Hyderabad came out of the IPL auction with one of the best squads. They had backed a core of their players to perform and built the rest of the team around them. They overcame their short-comings from the previous seasons and built quite a strong team. The strongest of pillars for this team was David Warner. David was instrumental in SRH’s success and he was the lone warrior who took them to the title in 2016.

Warner completely changed the dynamics of the team ever since he was at the helm. But, his ban came as quite a shocker for the Sunrisers. They had to name Kane Williamson who probably wouldn’t have made it to their starting XI as their skipper.

Sunrisers Hyderabad management feels that they’ve got all bases covered

Despite the absence of David Warner, SRH is quite confident of doing well in the league. They replaced David Warner with another aggressive opener in the form of Alex Hales. Hales remained unsold in the auction but was happy to be picked up by the SRH.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha seemed to be confident about their performance in Warner’s absence. “Maybe, initially, we will be affected by Warner’s absence, but with the reserves we have, it won’t impact much. We have a good middle-order in Kane Williamson, Deepak Hooda, and Manish Pandey. If we get a good start from the openers, the pressure on the middle order will be less. We have enough replacements to make a good side and fill the void caused by Warner’s non-availability,” Saha said.

Mentor VVS Laxman also looked positive about the team. “It is imperative to get good starts with the bat and the ball. And we have world-class performers who can change the course of a match in a couple of overs,” said Laxman. VVS also added that Shikhar Dhawan’s form was a big positive for them.

“We take pride in this. We want the players to be fresh in mind and express themselves — both on and off the field — to contribute to the team’s success. The credit for this goes to Moody (head coach) and Murali (bowling coach),” points out the star batsman.
