The last few months have been very tough for the disgraced Australian trio of Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft. The three cricketers are currently serving their bans following their involvement in the ball tampering scandal in South Africa recently. While they are away from international cricket, they are trying their best to be on the cricket field in other cricketing ventures.

Now, as per the recent reports in Cricbuzz, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft are set to play in the Strike League. The tournament is conducted by the North Territory in Australia and features 50 overs and T20 cricket matches. It aims at providing the local emerging talent a platform where they can rub shoulders with state and national players. Reportedly, Bancroft is available for the entire duration of the tournament.

Meanwhile, David Warner is set to play in two 50-over matches on July 21 and 22. The organizers are delighted to have the two cricketers on board. The NT Chief reckons that they will add great value to the competition and help the youngsters develop their game big time.

“I’m really looking forward to playing in the Strike League in July. I heard so much about the competition while I was in Darwin earlier this month that I’m keen to be part of it,” David Warner said in a statement.

“Their presence and experience will be invaluable for our local players, and it’s a big endorsement for the fantastic work being done by the staff at NT Cricket to make Darwin the winter destination of choice for Australian cricket. The Strike League is a fantastic competition with a mix of local, interstate and overseas players participating, and is a great showcase of the excellent facilities and talent we have in the North,” NT Cricket chief executive Joel Morrison remarked.

The Canada angle

Meanwhile, Steve Smith has been named as a marquee player in the drafts for the inaugural Global T20 Canada League. The tournament will also feature other big names like Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Sunil Narine and many more. It is being heard that even David Warner is considering playing in the competition.
