AB de Villiers is often referred to as a modern-day great. He is the man who has defied all the laws and rules of cricket. Be it sweeping a ball bowled at over 150 clicks for a six over fine-leg or smashing a ball bowled on the yorker length for a boundary over the covers.
We often speak about batsmen having that extra second while playing a delivery. But while ABD is batting, he seems to have all the time in the world. Seldom do you find batsmen changing their shots while playing a fast bowler but this man has done that to perfection? He is an absolute livewire on the field and makes the impossible possible.
‘One of my favourite players’: David Warner
AB de Villiers has retired from all international cricket on Wednesday. He stated that he was too tired and hence decided to take this evasive step. Many opined that it was too early for the Superman to retire. Also, some opined that he should have continued playing the ODIs. However, ABD who also spoke about this in his retirement speech said that he doesn’t want to differentiate between the formats. For him, it is either playing for the Proteas or nothing.
Cricketing fraternity congratulated the legend on a wonderful career. Former Australian vice-captain, David Warner who is currently serving a one-year ban also congratulated AB de Villiers. He termed AB de Villiers as one of his favourites to watch. He wished ABD all the success for his future.
“Well done @ABdeVilliers17 on a fantastic career, one of my favourite players to watch go about their skill. Wish you every success with you and your family,” David Warner tweeted. Incidentally, David Warner was earlier banned after the ball-tampering incident in what proved to be AB de Villiers’ last Test series.
