Australian cricketer David Warner stands ‘unemployed’ along with the other Australian cricketers at the moment. The deadlock between the Australian players and the Cricket Australia (CA) seemed to have found no solution. The ongoing tussle regarding the pay issues was expected to be resolved before June 30. However, the deadline – which was the end date of the existing MoU for the revenue sharing – has already been crossed and the players have no idea about what lies ahead for them.

CA is firm in their stance about implementing the new revenue sharing model. On the other hand, the players – under the umbrella institution Australia Cricketers’ Association (ACA) – wish to see the same model of revenue sharing continuing. Now, with the CA not compromising, it seems that the subsequent tours of Australia will be boycotted by the players. And hence, at this moment, the players stay unemployed.

Australian cricketers seem to be joking around about the same though. David Warner was recently involved in a friendly banter with former Australia and Italy cricketer Michael Di Venuto on the social media platform Twitter. Di Venuto, the current head coach of Surrey, remarked that he will try go do something for David Warner and mentioned that unemployment could be tough.

“@davidwarner31 Unemployment is obviously tough mate, I’ll see what I can do for you!!!” tweeted Di Venuto.

Warner’s response

In response to this, David Warner hinted that he might still end up getting a job. Warner, who is the premier player in the IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, noted that the new T20 Global League of South Africa is set to get underway. He hopes to get a chance there. He even tagged AB de Villiers in his response.

“Thanks for caring @MjDiVa5 @OfficialCSA have a new league, maybe I could be a chance there @ABdeVilliers17,” tweeted David Warner in his response.
