Ahead of the Boxing Day Test, the fourth match of the ongoing Ashes series, England‘s veteran pacer James Anderson claimed that the Australian bowling attack lacks depth. Without considering how the scoreline stands at this point in time, as it is tilted 3-0 in favour of the hosts, Anderson also he criticized the Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc.

In response, the Australian opening batsman and the vice-captain of the team David Warner struck back at the Englishman. He declared that England isn’t used to producing fast bowlers and hence they struggle in Australia. When provoked Warner comes really hard at the opposition on the field and with the words as well. Ahead of the Boxing Day Test, he asked the English players to come out of their shells and play hard and strong.

Further, he supported his team and mentioned, “Our depth is fantastic, we know what Australian cricket has to offer.”

Warner’s take

During the press conference on Sunday, Warner lashed out at Anderson and said, “He talks about us being up all the time when we’re in front but different story there, he was firing shots at the captain apparently, then went very quiet as soon as he saw the wicket was quite flat at the WACA.”

Then further mentioned, “Sometimes you pick your times when you want to go at people, sometimes you go into your shell like a turtle. We’ve probably shut them up a little bit at the moment, hopefully, this gets them up and going and they fire some barbs at us because I love that, I love whenever we’re in a contest and I feel like they were quite flat in WACA, that’s for sure.”

Warner remained unworried by Anderson’s comment said, “We don’t dwell on what he says at all. He can fire those barbs at us. When you do bowl 145kph plus, you tend to get a couple of injuries. Everyone has had their fair share of injuries.”
