India won the first T20 International against South Africa by 28 runs in Johannesburg on Sunday and took 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The visitors smashed 203 runs after being invited to bat first by the home side on the flat track and then handsomely defended the target with one of the best bowling attacks they ever had. Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred for the Men in Blue in the victory in their respective departments. However, David Warner was thrilled to watch their performances and praised his IPL teammates.

Warner is the leader of Sunrirsers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhawan and Bhuvi are the key members of the side for last few years now. While the skipper and the fast bowler were retained by the franchise, they used the Right to Match (RTM) card for the swashbuckling left-hander. SRH were crowned champions in 2016 and these three players were key to their fortunes during the whole season.

Warner’s tweet

David Warner, despite being in New Zealand, for the ongoing T20I tri-series, had a keen eye on the game between India and South Africa. Much to his joy, his teammates at the IPL performed exceedingly well and helped India seal the first game against Proteas. Soon, he took to Twitter to express his delight and praised both for their efforts. “Well done @BhuviOfficial @SDhawan25 great work boys,” his message read.

Here’s Warner’s message:

Warner is gearing up for the final of the tri-series against New Zealand on Wednesday currently. Soon after the game, he will leave for South Africa where Australia is scheduled to play the four-match Test series starting from March 1. All his teammates are already in the country as the Test players were rested for the tussle in the shortest format and Warner was tipped to lead the young side. It is important for him to score some runs during the Test series as he has endured a poor home season in the Ashes.
