Australian cricket is currently in dire straits after the ball-tampering scandal which hit them in Cape Town last week during the third Test. The fallouts of the incident have been massive with Steve Smith and David Warner being banned for 1 year, while Cameron Bancroft was banned for the period of nine months. Even the coach Darren Lehmann has decided to step down as the coach of Australia. However, the so far silent man Warner has finally spoken to the media albeit briefly over the matter.

Steve Smith has already confronted the media and was highly emotional even breaking down several times while speaking over the matter. Even Bancroft faced the questions from the reporters in Perth and apologised to the nation for his regrettable actions on the field which disreputed Australian cricket and the game of cricket. Though the crickting world was waiting for Warner to open up on this issue whose silence was defeaning in this matter.

It has been a tough and emotional time

David Warner, on Thursday arrived at the Sydney airport on his way back home mid-way from South Africa tour. He was with hiswife Candice Warner and both his daughters. He informed the reporters that he will soon talk to the media in the next couple of days and also informed them that it has been a tough time for him and his family.

“As you can understand, it has been a tough, emotional time for my wife and kids. At the present time, you’ll hear from me in a couple of days. At the moment, my priority is to get these kids in bed, and rest up and get my mind a bit clear so I can think, and talk in a couple of days. Thanks guys,” he said after his arrival in Sydney.

Cricket Australia (CA) has already made clear that Warner won’t be considered for national captaincy in the future and the cricketer looked disappointment while he was talking to the reporters.
