Australian opener and the skipper for the T20I series David Warner has thanked the Indian fans for all the love they showered on them during their tour. The Australian team is on their way back home after spending more than a month in India. They lost the ODI series by 1-4 as the solitary win came in Bengaluru courtesy the century from Warner himself. However, they looked more competitive in the shortest format as they dominated the hosts in Guwahati and defeated them by 8 wickets by chasing a small total of 119.

Warner himself had mediocre outings on this tour as it was expected that his experience during Indian Premier League (IPL) might reap rich rewards for his team. Apart from a century in Bengaluru and a half-century in Nagpur, he could not score big runs as he was snaffled early in other matches by the opening bowlers of India. But the scoreline of both the series is not the correct reflection of the way matches were played.

Warner salutes the crowd

David Warner, on his trip back to Australia, took to social media website Instagram and thanked the Indian people for their support during their stay across all the eight matches in the country. He also mentioned that the players always love to play. He posted a picture of him posing with a salute and captioned it as, “Thanks India for hosting us once again. We absolutely love coming to your country and playing cricket. Sorry about last night Hyderabad but I hope to see you all again next year.

The left-handed batsman and a lot of players will return again next year for the lucrative IPL which is played every year in April. However, they will now get busy playing in the domestic Sheffield Shield season which will commence by the end of this month. Then they will be involved in the much awaited Ashes series in November as the home season starts for the team from down under.
