It was the contest between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 50th match of IPL 2022 where DC owned the night at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium. DC dominated SRH by 21 runs on the back of stellar shows by David Warner (92* off 58) and Rovman Powell (67* off 35). Warner in particular turned out to be an absolute stunner against his former franchise and skipper Rishabh Pant was in awe of his innings.

Talking during the post-match presentation, Pant called Warner’s innings to be one of the best that has happened for Delhi so far. While taking bowlers to cleaners, Warner smashed 12 fours and three sixes, operating at a strike rate of 158.62. In the end, he remained just eight runs short of his well-deserved ton but pushed his side to post a massive total of 207 runs on the board.

“The way he batted, the way he paced the innings, it’s one of the best innings I have seen (in the Delhi camp),” said Pant during DC vs SRH post-match presentation.

We are just taking one game at a time: Rishabh Pant

Pant went on to praise Powell with an open heart and added that backing him is giving them perfect results now. The DC skipper talked of taking one game at a time and labeled their win against SRH as a crucial one in the season. After the victory, DC moved to the fifth slot in the points table whereas Hyderabad came down to the sixth position with both teams having an equal number of points but Delhi having better NRR.

“We knew what he (Powell) can give us, we backed him and he’s coming out with flying colours now. We are just taking one game at a time and trying to give our 100%. Good and important win for us,” added Pant.

As the T20 league has moved into the second half of the season, each and every victory will carry huge significance in strengthening the team’s chances for playoffs.
