The former Australian cricketer Dean Jones has been trolled by the Indian fans for belittling the century from the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The commentator who is also the interim coach of Afghanistan now praised the in-form batsman but also was witty in his tweet on social media which made the fans furious. Naturally, there was a reaction from them and they trolled Jones reminding him that the Australians couldn’t play spin, as well as the Kiwis, did.
Virat Kohli led from the front for the hosts on Sunday after opting to bat first and helped the team post a competitive total of 280. He brought up his record 31st century in the ODI format and scored 121 runs off just 125 balls with 9 fours and a couple of sixes. The knock seemed to be a match-winning but Tom Latham and Ross Taylor batted exceptionally well riding on all the odds stacked against them.
The duo played the wrist spinners with a plan and kept them sweeping after coming together at a rather worrying position of 80/3. They made sure there were no further hiccups in the tall chase and added a record 200 runs for the fourth wicket. While Latham brought up an excellent ton off just 95 balls, Ross was dismissed with only single run required on 95. Eventually, New Zealand won the game by six wickets and now lead the 3-match series by 1-0.
What did Jones tweet?
Professor Dean Jones praised Kohli for smashing a hundred on social media website Twitter but didn’t forget to underrate New Zealand. Interestingly, the Indian skipper went past Jones himself to become the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs against the Kiwis in the format. He posted, “Well played @imVkohli !! But then again .. it’s only New Zealand!” However, the fans took this opportunity to troll him back after the match and reminded him that the Kiwis played spin much better than the Aussies.
