Shortly after former Australian batsman and renowned commentator, Dean Jones announced his appointment as the interim coach of Afghanistan National team on Twitter, fellow compatriot Mark Waugh mocked the former while engaging in a banter with Jones.

Jones recently visited Afghanistan for his stint at Shpageeza Cricket League which was infamously remembered for the terrorist attacks in the periphery of the stadium. Jones voiced his opinions about his experience in Afghanistan and intended to visit the country soon.

Just weeks post that episode, the Australian who is currently covering India-Australia T20I series with Star Sports network, made an announcement about his stint as an interim coach of the Afghanistan side for their tour to Hong Kong.

“@ACBofficials I am pleased to announce that I will be Afghanistan interim Head Coach for their Tour to Hong Kong #shouldbefun” tweeted Dean Jones expressing his joy over the decision.

To which, Chief Selector of the Australian Cricket team went on to comment that he was chosen as the Head Coach of the side because there were no other applicants for the job. “@ICC @ACBofficials just had the one applicant did they.?” replied Mark Waugh.

The double centurion at Madras had the perfect response for the dig at him. With the current turmoil in Australian cricket due to injuries and upcoming Ashes tour, Jones advised Waugh to concentrate on selection issues. “Funny bugger!! Glad you could play! Concentrate on the selection I reckon ?” replied Dean Jones.

Here’s the thread:

It was only recently that David Warner tried to troll the commentator who recently covered the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) and Karnataka Premier League (KPL) by pulling out a prank. Warner tagged Jones’ briefcase by captioning best batsman ever. Jones then trolled Warner back by claiming the bag lost its way to Warner’s room as the best batsman in the team is Steve Smith.
