Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones is very pleased with the way young spinner Rashid Khan performed in the Big Bash League this season. Rashid turned up for the Adelaide Strikes in BBL2017-18. The young spinner has taken giant strides in world cricket and has made a name for himself. He was recently retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL 2018 auctions for a whopping amount of INR 9 crore.

He has become a favorite player in the shortest format of the game and has become a globe trotter. In the ongoing edition of the BBL, he made his first ever appearance in the tournament. Typically, the Australian conditions are best suited for the fast bowlers. The spinners have very little say in the competition. But despite this fact, Rashid’s rise to the top has been a dream story.

Needless to concede, the 19-year old has fetched a lot of praises. Among the many fans he has made, Dean Jones seems to be the latest to join the list. The former cricketer took to micro-blogging site Twitter to thank Rashid Khan for his contributions to the tournament.

“thank you Rashid Bhai for your wonderful contribution to this years @bbl #safetravels,” Dean Jones tweeted.

Rashid’s quick response for Dean Jones

Rashid was quick to respond to Dean Jones. In his response to the tweet, Rashid thanked the former cricketer for his good wishes. “Thank you so much dear coach @ProfDeano,” replied Rashid Khan.

One for the team

Rashid’s team, Adelaide Strikers, has made it to the finals of the competition. In the BBL this year, Rashid has scalped 18 wickets at an average of 13.83. He is currently the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. It is unfortunate that Rashid will not be playing the finals of the BBL on Sunday against the Hobart Hurricanes.

He has been called up for the national duty. Rashid posted a thank you message for his fans and the BBL as well. He also wished his team, the Strikers, all the best for the tournament finals.

“IN FINAL NOW. Thank you sooo much, everyone, from your support love and great hospitality throughout tournament, Have to leave for my national duty cant wait to come again next year @BBL @StrikersBBL @dizzy259 @travishead34 BEST OF LUCK iN FINAL,” he wrote.
