Delhi Capitals confirms that Shreyas Iyer will lead the team in IPL 2020

In the recently concluded IPL trade window, Delhi Capitals looked quite busy and ended up securing the services of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane. And, now all the focus has been shifted to the upcoming auction that is scheduled to take place in Kolkata. However, DC has shared a video in which Shreyas Iyer has come up with a revelation that could delight their fans.

For Delhi based franchise, IPL 2019 turned out to be one of the best in its 13 successive seasons. So, this time their team-management is not letting down any stone unturned in order to get their hands on the prestigious trophy of Indian Premier League.

During the transfer window, they traded Jagadeesha Suchith to Kings XI Punjab along with some disclosed amount and got Ravichandran Ashwin in return, followed by their second deal in which they had to give away their two players Mayank Markande and Rahul Tewatia in order to secure the signature of Rahane from RR.

On Monday, Delhi Capitals took to their Twitter handle and shared a video along with a caption, “Our Captain Fantastic, @ShreyasIyer15 sure is excited to hit the ground running in #IPL2020. With experienced superstars added to the squad and the auction still to come, can our skipper lead a formidable team all the way?”

In that clip, Shreyas Iyer can be heard saying that he will be going to lead the team in IPL 2020. He also looked happy over the new recruits that DC did in the IPL trade window i-e- Ashwin and Rahane. Also, the Delhiite showed his excitement for the upcoming auction that will be going to held on the 19th of December.

“Thrilled to have the experience of Ashwin and Rahane in the squad. Can’t wait for the auction and to lead the team in IPL 2020 as we aim for the trophy,” Iyer said in the video.

Trent Boult, the Kiwi speedster, who played for DC in IPL 2019 was also released by the franchise in a cash-rich deal to Mumbai Indians. The Delhi based franchise had roped the left-arm pacer after paying a hefty amount of Rs 2.2 crores in the IPL auction 2018 but he was traded at an amount of 3.2 Cr.

Now, Capitals have been left with an amount of 27.85 Cr in their purse for the IPL vendue that is just a month away from its commencement.
