Delhi Capitals (DC) unveil their new jersey for IPL 2020

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to kick-start the much-awaited 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) from September 19 across three venues namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. This will be the first time in the history of the T20 league that the final will be on a weekday– November 10 (Tuesday) instead of the weekend. 

As the tournament is just two weeks, many franchises including Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have been unveiling their cricket kit for the upcoming edition. The new addition to this list is Delhi Capitals who introduced their deconstructed cricket jersey for IPL 2020 through their official Twitter handle. 

As compared to their previous 2019 kit, the jersey is of a lighter shade with the tiger emblem in the background. Also, there is less red seen in the jersey, mostly across the sleeve ends and under the collar. Capitals described the thought behind placing the tiger and choosing a lighter shade in their tweet. 

‘Deconstructed’ jersey of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2020 

According to the post shared by Capitals, the three tigers in the front represent Delhi’s aggressiveness and hunger to emerge victorious. A lighter and brighter shade that is synonymous is used as it echoes the vibrance and zeal of Nayi Dilli. The back of the jersey has stripes of a tiger that is worn with pride to roar. 

Meanwhile, the logo of Apl Apollo is placed on the left upper front while the logo of DC is on the right side. The centre of the jersey has the logo of Delhi’s prime sponsor JSW while the name of the EbixCash is written on the back. 

Sharing the picture that features Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant wearing the new jersey, DC tweeted, “The new-look DC Jersey Deconstructed. Representing the spirit of Dilli, in a fresh avatar for #Dream11IPL #YehHaiNayiDilli @SDhawan25 @RishabhPant17”

The franchise recently signed up with the JSW group, which is also the 50 per cent owner of the Delhi Capitals as their principal partner. On September 4, Capitals took to Twitter to announce JSW group as their principal sponsor.  

Unveiling the video, they tweeted, “With immense pride, we welcome @TheJSWGroup as our Principal Jersey Sponsor for #Dream11IPL A bond that gets stronger & makes us truly feel home on a new journey, in the new normal #YehHaiNayiDilli”
