India B clinched the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy as they defeated the India C team by 51 runs in the final in the Ranchi. All the four matches in this tournament have been won by the teams batting first and the winning margin read no less than 100 during the league matches. India C won both the matches in the round-robin phase by huge margins.

But they faltered with the bat while chasing for the first time in the competition. India B finished on 283/7 with the help of fifties from Kedar Jadhav (86) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (54). Krishnappa Gowtham’s 10-ball 35* pushed his team past 270 despite Ishan Porel’s 5-wicket haul. Priyam Garg scored 74 from only 77 balls during the chase but India C finished with only 232/9.

All the statistical highlights from the Deodhar Trophy final won by India B in Ranchi:

5 – Kedar Jadhav has scored a fifty all the five times he has batted in the finals of Deodhar Trophy. He scored 67* (43) and 57 (43) respectively in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons but didn’t get a chance to bat in the 2013/14 season final. Kedar also had scores of 97 (91) and 58* (39) during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 season finals of Deodhar respectively.


10 – Number of wickets for Jalaj Saxena in this Deodhar Trophy; the most by any player. Only four players took more than 10 wickets in a single edition of Deodhar Trophy. Jalaj became the first player to take a 7-wicket haul in Deodhar history during the 2nd game of this tournament.


20y 57d – At the age of 20 years 57 days, India ‘C’ captain Shubman Gill became the youngest captain in the history of Deodhar Trophy finals. Virat Kohli was 21 years and 124 days old when he led North Zone in the 2009/10 season Final against West Zone. Kohli, however, stands as the youngest captain to win the Deodhar final as North Zone won that match by 49 runs.


56 – Mohammed Siraj has bagged 54 wickets in 29 List A matches since the start of 2018. In these 29 matches, Siraj had a strike rate of 24.87 with the ball. Siraj picked at least two wickets in 16 out of those 29 games.


79 – Kedar Jadhav has a batting average of 79 in the Deodhar Trophy; the best for any player with 500+ runs in the competition. Jadhav has scored 711 runs across 14 innings with help of a hundred and seven fifties. Kedar’s batting average in Deodhar read over 100 but his scores of 5 and 5 in the league matches brought in below 80.


151 – Shahbaz Nadeem completed 150 wickets in the List A cricket with his 3rd out of the four wickets he has claimed in this match. Nadeem completed the milestone in 109 matches with help of four 5-wicket hauls and four 4-fers.
