Designer Sabyasachi claims wrong credits for Virushka reception, sends out apology soon

Popular Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee found himself in an awkward position in the headlines recently. The famous designer is known for his masterwork with fashion designing. In the recent days, the wedding episode of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma has been in the news for various reasons. Sabyasachi also had his share of praises received owing to the beautiful dresses he designed for the power couple.

However, recently, a social media user accused the designer of making false claims. In his social media updates, Sabyasachi had claimed that he had designed the reception outfits of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. Neha Srivastava, a Facebook user, took to her account to post a picture of her dress which looked exactly similar to the one that Anushka Sharma wore on the night.

“So Sabyasachi Mukherjee tries to claim credit for the most traditional standard design in Banarasi silk sarees as his work & claims “copies” will flood the market soon,” she wrote as she posted the pictures of her outfit.

Earlier, the designer had indeed posted pictures of Virat’s outfit and had heaped praises at the outfit that Anushka was wearing on the night. The designer was in the news again as he ‘wrongly’ claimed the rights for the outfit designed for Virat Kohli.

Sabyasachi apologizes

The popular designer knew that he had committed a mistake by claiming the designer rights that Raghavendra had designed. He apologized for the same and remarked that his team had also designed an outfit which looked almost similar. Hence, the confusion was created.

“And BTW @virat.kohli looks absolutely dapper in a @raghavendra.rathore We had made a very similar piece and in the confusion of the great Indian wedding the credits got swapped. Mr. Mukherjee is personally a huge fan of the Rathore label and deeply regrets the error,” he wrote.

For her Mumbai reception, Anushka wanted to wear old world glamour. And we decided to ‘Jazz’ it up in smoky grey.
