Despite getting out for 49, RCB still a strong team feels Ben Cutting

Ben Cutting referred RCB's 49 all-out as a rare blip and says the side is still very dangerous with the presence of Kohli, Gayle and De Villiers in the XI.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is now languishing at the bottom of the points table. Their loss against KKR has hit their campaign extremely hard. Getting out for just 49 while chasing 132 wasn’t exactly what Virat Kohli had planned for.

Despite the presence of Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Chris Gayle, all three one of the finest ever T20 cricketers, RCB has struggled to get going in IPL 2017. They have found ways of losing a game despite being in winning positions and are now running out of time as they have already consumed half of their league games.

They are now scheduled to play a home game against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. They have met once already this year, in the opening game of IPL 2017, where Sunrisers beat them by 35 runs. SRH all-rounder Ben Cutting was of the opinion that getting bundled out for 49 doesn’t instantly make RCB a bad team.

“49 all out – it happens time to time, RCB is still a very strong team,” he told reporters at an interaction referring to RCB’s horror night against Kolkata Knight Riders in their away game.

RCB in their last game registered 213 against the Gujarat Lions and there is no reason why they can’t do it again. The KKR game was obviously an aberration, one bad performance that they will put behind them.

Sunrisers bowling attack has always been one of the best going around in the tournament. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done exceptional well for them this season, picking early wickets which restrict the run-scoring in the first six overs.

“We do not have a strategy against ABD, Kohli and Gayle. We will stick to our gameplan which is working for us – that is restricting opponents in the first six overs,” he said.

Sunrisers are placed at the third spot in the points table with 4 wins from 7 games. They haven’t won a game away from home yet. They still need a few more wins to seal a spot in the top four.

“We are not too far off the map, four wins in seven games is quite good. We are halfway through and seven more games left. If things improve, we will be in comfortable position,” he said.

Warner will want to win a game away from home to end their dismal away record this season. M Chinnaswamy will be a high-scoring ground which makes the contest between the RCB batting versus the Sunrisers bowling even more interesting.
