Pakistan succumbed to their second defeat to India in four days in the Asia Cup and the hype which was created ahead of the tournament has proved to be agonisingly one-sided. After the way the Men in Green had won in the Champions Trophy final, many felt that the tussle will be neck and neck this time. But the action in the middle has been a complete contrast. However, the fans are extremely disappointed with the team and especially the captain Sarfraz Ahmed and have criticised him a lot.

In the group stage encounter, India bundled out Pakistan only for 162 after they opted to bat first and then chased the total only in 29 overs. Though when the Super Four clash arrived, the fans felt that the team will stage a stunning comeback like they did last did. Much to their agony, what transpired on the 22 yards was even more embarrassing.

India chased down 238 with no fuss and more importantly their bowlers failed to take even a single wicket during the 39.3 overs of action.

Sarfraz decision at the toss under the scanner

More than anyone, the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has come under severe criticism. Having lost the match after batting first previously, he did the same once again on Sunday. Even the cricket experts covering the game were surprised with him choosing to bat first after winning the toss despite knowing that the conditions get better to bat under the lights in Dubai.

It was the same story once again with the bat. The openers couldn’t get going and the out-of-form captain scored 44 runs before Shoaib Malik slammed 78 runs to bring some respectability to the total. But all the efforts were of no use for them as India were never bothered about the under-par chase.

A couple of thumping losses is a reality check for this Pakistan team who were considered the favourites when the Asia Cup started. Meanwhile, the fans were critical of Sarfraz as the skipper and bashed him left, right and centre.
