The fifth and final T20I match between India and South Africa was washed out due to rain. As a result, both teams shared the winning trophy with the series ending on a 2-2 scoreline. It must be noted that the visitors South Africa had won the toss in the final match and opted to have a bowl first.
The Men in Blue were 28/2 in 3.3 overs before the game got abandoned and the trophy was shared. However, besides the match, it was one incident involving Ruturaj Gaikwad that became a talking point. The incident took place during the rain break when the young Indian opener was sitting in the dugout.
Gaikwad was seen making gestures to the groundsman for making distance
In a 15-second video that has gone viral on the internet, a groundsman can be seen trying to take a selfie with the batter. It was then seen that the right-handed batter first pushed the groundsman and then asked him to maintain distance as he then looked the other way.
Very bad and disrespectful gesture by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Sad to see these groundsmen getting treated like this 😔#RuturajGaikwad pic.twitter.com/jIXWvUdqIX

For the unversed, Ruturaj Gaikwad had a poor outing in the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa. The batter got several starts, but could not convert them to big ones. The right-handed batter took 11 deliveries to reach the 10-run mark before being scalped on his 12th by pacer Lungi Ngidi in the final match.
On the other hand, his opening partner Ishan Kishan performed much better as compared to Gaikwad. The left-handed batter ended the series as the leading run-scorer after smashing 206 runs in just five matches at an average of 41.20 while Gaikwad could only manage to score 96 runs in five matches.
Gaikwad has also been named in the Indian team for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland. The two-match T20I series will start on June 26 with the final match being played on June 28. Gaikwad will be playing under the new leadership of Hardik Pandya and will look to grab the opportunity by scoring some big runs.
Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to the incident:

Disrespecting and pushing the groundsman out of the dugout by turning down his request for a selfie suggests that just IPL success can get on someone's head. Ruturaj Gaikwad is a leading example. Thumbs down for this act!!
Personal opinion!#RuturajGaikwad

#Ruturaj#gaikwad
During the match, the player cannot take the phone with him. Players are also prohibited from using the phone. The groundsman knows this. Only select people can go to the pmoa area. Before maligning anyone's image, take information. pic.twitter.com/DsgygVBdt1— Harsh (@Harsh99648459) June 19, 2022
