Sports like football has hogged the spotlight due to racism with players on numerous occasions. Now, cricket is another game added to that list. Dodda Ganesh, the former Indian cricketer has come out saying that he had to face lots of difficulties during his playing days due to antagonism.
The 46-year-old revealed that he was not well aware of such things back in the ’90s. Also, there were no platforms available for an individual to speak about it. He donned national jersey in 4 Tests and an ODI. Although he didn’t reap a lot of success in international cricket, Ganesh was no less than a legend in the domestic circuit. He took 346 wickets and amassed 2023 runs playing for Karnataka.
Former Indian cricketer says he can relate to Abhinav Mukund’s story
Ganesh took to his official Twitter handle and shared a post referring to Karnataka born player, Abhinav Mukund. The former player recited that he can well relate to the story of 30-year-old. He stated also went through racist slurs. But, it couldn’t stop him from playing for his country and state.
His post read, “This story of @mukundabhinav reminded me of the racial jibes I went through in my playing days. Only an Indian legend was witness to it. It only made me strong & didn’t deter me from playing for Ind & ovr 100 mts for Karnataka.”
Actually Abhinav Mukund shared a long letter back in 2017 on social media with his fans and followers. In the letter he wrote about racism and revealed that he went through discrimination during his tour to Sri Lanka in 2017.

Recently, Darren Sammy and Chris Gayle also raised their voice against racism. An American man George Floyd was killed while he was in the Minneapolis police custody. Afterwards, Sammy took to his Twitter handle and requested everyone to come forward and raise their voice against such an ill human activity.
Later on, the Universe Boss updated his Instagram story in which he wrote that racism exists not only in football but also in cricket. And, he went through many such instances in the past. His story read,”Racism is not only in football, but it’s also in cricket too. Even within teams as a black man, I get the end of the stick. Black and powerful. Black and proud.”
