'Don't reverse sweep up into your own face' - James Neesham after hurting his chin against India A

New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham is one of the funniest guys on the social media platform Twitter. The cricketer has an acid wit and never let go of a chance to mock, use his sarcasm to incite laughter from his followers, who love him for his interaction. He even takes on fellow cricketers on social media for the laughs and usually knows how to take a joke on himself.

On January 24, New Zealand A played India A in the second one-day match of the three-match series which featured James Neesham. He had a good day on the field as well, given that he slammed 33 in 31 balls with 3 fours to his name and then bowled 7 overs of medium pace and picked 2/24 at an economy of 3.42, helping his team beating India A side by 29 runs and equalizing the series 1-1 with one game to go.

However, the game took its toll on Neesham as he shared a photo on his Twitter account showing a big cut on the right side of his chin. It seems that Neesham hurt himself during the match and as per his tweet, he was trying to reverse sweep an Indian spinner during the match and ended up edging the ball right onto his own face. He tweeted, “Got fixed up good today! Lesson: don’t reverse sweep up into your own face 😂😂😂”

Surprisingly, he got a reply from former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum. McCullum was known for his tough-guy image, famously not even flinching after been hit on his nose by a Brett Lee bouncer during a Big Bash League match, despite blood gushing out of his damaged nasal cavity. McCullum, replied, “#CarryOn 🤭”

Neesham took the tweet in a funny manner and said that he needed to show his followers how tough he was given that the match wasn’t televised one and hence they didn’t see how he got hit and continued batting. “Game wasn’t on tv, had to let everyone know how hard I am somehow! 😬 #carryonking,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, George Worker made 135 and Cole McConchie made 55 apart from Neesham’s contribution to take New Zealand A to 295/7. In reply, India managed just 266/9 with Krunal Pandya making 51 and contributions from Ishan Kishan, Vijay Shankar, and Akshar Patel.  For New Zealand A, Kyle Jamieson (2/69), Jacob Duffy (2/35) and Jimmy Neesham (2/24) were the picks of bowlers, as the home side won by 29 runs.
