Dushmantha Chameera to miss the first Test against India: Dushmantha Chameera the new, young pacer from Sri Lanka who made his Test debut against Pakistan last month is to miss his first Test match against India in a three match series, since he has been unable to recover from the side strain during the Test against Pakistan. The 129th player to be capped, has raised hopes with his test debut with 4 wickets in the first match.

The Chief selector of the Sri Lanka cricket t Kapila Wijegunawardene said, “Chameera is being monitored closely and undergoing treatment. A side strain is not serious but painful which sometimes can take a long time to heal. The muscles are all attached to your bones and it takes a little while longer.

“We were unfortunate to miss Chameeera in the third Test and in the ODIs against Pakistan but are hoping that by the second Test against India he will be ready. We don’t want to rush him because we want him fit and ready because having him makes a huge difference to the composition of our attack”.

The Test series between India and Sri Lanka is to kick start on the 12th of August. The 23 year old pace bowler continuously clocks speed above 140kmph and has been a reason of worry for the dominating Pakistani side. He also missed the ODI series against Pakistan but the rest might help him perform better in the 2nd Test against India and he will be the one to watch out for. The young fast bowler has also been a part of three one-day matches during the World Cup 2015, taking 5 wickets his best being 3/51. The pace that he has in his bowling has been a surety of his being the leader for Sri Lanka’s pace bowling attack in all the formats of cricket in the future.
