West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo on Thursday praised the Indian Premier League (IPL) saying the tournament helps individual players enhance their own skills and the high-profile coaches in every team help them overcome the flaws. The ace Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder, one of the stalwarts of T2o cricket with over 6,000 runs and almost 500 wickets, hasn’t been able to take part in IPL 2019 consistently because of injury and has managed to play just eight games till now.
In IPL 2019, hasn’t had the opportunity to bat often and thus scored just 64 runs and accounted for nine wickets. Bravo, who retired from international cricket in 2018, also called CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the best he has played under. He also said that he likes playing for the CSK – a team which is one of his favourites and also forms the biggest fan base of him outside his country.
“It is no secret. I love, I can say much about MSD leadership… Everyone knows. He is the best in the world,” the 35-year-old Bravo was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
CSK had a slight off form in the second half of the campaign as they lost three out of four games but on Wednesday, the yellow jerseys thumped a spirited Delhi Capitals by 80 runs to go remain at the top of the table and are looking favourites to end up as the toppers in the league stage. CSK won their third title last year after returning to the tournament after two years of suspension, along with Rajasthan Royals.
Bravo also optimistic about Windies’ WC chances
Bravo also spoke highly about the Windies’ chances at the World Cup starting May 30. The Caribbeans had to go through the qualifying rounds to get into the WC this year along with Afghanistan and although many had written their prospect off in the tournament, they have made the fans rethink after the recent home series against England.
The squad that the Windies have picked also have some mega names like Chris Gayle and Andre Russell and Bravo feels the Men in Maroon will be a major threat to all the opponents.
