The West Indies have given the Indians more than just fantastic cricket. They have thoroughly entertained the Indians thus becoming fan favorites. However, apart from the many contributions of the Windies to Indian cricket, the ‘Champion’ dance is something that has caught the eye of one and all. Initially done by Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle, the dance has spread across the subcontinent like wildfire.

First, it was the West Indies players followed by Afghan players. While the fans were doing it as well, David Willey also indulged in the dance. However, in a strange yet hilarious development, the IPL organizing committee has reported a rather strange news. Rajiv Shukla, the IPL chairman has said that Dwayne Bravo will be performing the champion dance in the opening ceremony of the IPL.

Dwayne Bravo is performing on Champion Dance during the opening ceremony of IPL-9 in Mumbai. His performance will be a special attraction and there might be a few more West Indies cricketers, who will perform alongside Bravo,” IPL chairman Shukla told PTI on Wednesday.

Shukla also added that the LED stumps will be used for the IPL as well.

“The LED stumps will be used during this season’s IPL matches. The same company that has supplied LED stumps to ICC has been roped in for the tournament,” Shukla said.

In addition, Shukla added that the fan engagement for the IPL was increased considerably as the spectators will be given placards during the games. He also said that IPL fan parks would be constructed in the United States.

“If there is a run-out or a stumping that has been referred to the third umpire before the decision is flashed, the fans express their opinion. They will be provided with placards with signs of “out or Not Out” and they can flash it for 30 seconds irrespective of the umpire’s decision,” said Shukla.

“There will be a Fan Park in the state of New Jersey in the United States. It is the first time that an IPL Fan park will be created outside the country. The 35 in the country is a significant rise from the 16 we had last year,” said Shukla.
