England have produced a poor performance in the 2021-22 Ashes series against Australia. The Joe Root-led side has already surrendered the series, and is currently 0-3 down.

As a result, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is now planning to restrict the involvement of the England cricketers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) henceforth.

In fact, the Managing Director of the ECB, Ashley Giles is even preparing a full-fledged report so that the England Test team’s performance can be improved in the future.

IPL set to become a 10-team affair from 2022

Also, from 2022, the Indian Premier League is set to become grander, as the Indian T20 League will be a 10-team affair. This means that there would be more matches, and the tournament might extend into June.

The England Test side is slated to lock horns with the New Zealand side in a two-match Test series that is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2022, and the IPL might still be going on at that point of time.

Also, the IPL mega auctions are expected to take place next month, and there will be several England players who will go under the hammer. So far, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have decided to retain the services of all-rounder Moeen Ali, while the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have retained Jos Buttler.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged as the champions of the 2021 edition of the IPL, and won the IPL title for the 4th time, beating the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) side in the summit clash of the tournament.
