Coronavirus pandemic is getting spread at a very high rate. So far, it has taken several lives across the globe. And due to the same, Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister has announced a 21-day lockdown in the country. He took such a strong step looking forward to the current alarming conditions.

On the other hand, the needy and underprivileged are currently hit with a major blow as they rely heavily on their daily work for compensating their food and other essential needs.

Many current cricketers and former players have stepped forward to help them out under these circumstances. Earlier, Gautam Gambhir, the former World Cup winner had donated a sum of INR 50 Lakhs for the treatment of COVID-19 victims followed by Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian skipper, who had provided rice worth INR 50 lakhs to the needy and underprivileged.

CAB steps forward to help the needy and underprivileged

Now, Sujan Mukherjee, the pitch curator of Eden Garden has joined the bandwagon and requested the board to donate his one month salary to the West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cricket Association of Bengal had already announced a sum of INR 25 lakh to join hands in order to fight against the rapidly-spreading disease. Even, the pitch curator also collected rice and cereals that were distributed to the groundsmen from different grounds located in Kolkata.

Everyone from CAB or associated are doing whatever it takes to help the needy and underprivileged, who are suffering at the moment to an extent. “Mukherjee has also requested CAB to donate his one month’s salary to West Bengal Emergency Relief Fund,” the CAB said as quoted by Firstpost.

This is a great step taken by the officials under such stiff conditions. At the moment, the things look out of control as none of the doctors or researchers have got any big success in developing a vaccination for Coronavirus. So, the authorities felt that it will be appropriate to announce a lockdown in order to protect every individual from the life-threatening virus. As far as the reports are concerned, there have been 10 coronavirus cases in West Bengal with one death. And, it might increase going ahead in the future.
