'Either give up the shot or perfect it' - Twitter disappointed after Virat Kohli throws his wicket away playing a cover drive

South Africa has dominated the proceedings on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test against India. The team lost Mayank Agarwal while approaching stumps on Day 3 as  Marco Jansen showed him the way back to the hut. Early in the first session of Day 4, the visitors lost another wicket as nightwatchman Shardul Thakur walked back to the pavilion with 10 runs to his account.

However, the hosts further strengthened their position as they were able to get the prized scalp of skipper Virat Kohli. On the first ball post-lunch debutant  Jansen chimed into the scenario to exude his flair. Three slips and a gully were placed for the swashbuckling batter wherein he lost his wicket yet again in a similar manner whilst playing the drive.

The left-arm pacer bowled wide outside off stump delivery which Kohli looked to drive. However, it seemed that he was playing for the swing but the ball caught an edge and Quinton de Kock made no mistake behind the stumps. Thus, the wait for the Indian Test skipper’s 71st century continues.

The other fact that has been making rounds on social media platforms dates back to the year 2018.  Jansen had bowled to Kohli in the nets three years ago that is in the year 2018. And now three years later he clinched the precious wicket of the batter on his Test debut. Soon, Lungi Ngidi who picked up six wickets in India’s first innings sent back Cheteshwar Pujara with 16 runs to his account. It will be intriguing to see how India builds on the innings from here.

India had dominated the proceedings on Day 1 of the first Test at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. Mayank Agarwal scored 60 whereas KL Rahul registered his seventh Test century. Later handy contributions from Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane enabled the team to put 327 on board as the middle order failed to deliver big. The visitor’s bowlers then blew the trumpet of their repertoire restricting the proteas to 197. Mohammed Shami secured his five-wicket haul as India had the lead of 130 runs.
