Ajinkya Rahane was under pressure when he took guard for the Indian side in the second innings of the second Test match against England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. In the first Test match at Trent Bridge, the right-handed batsman had scored 5 runs in the only innings that he batted and had followed that up by scoring a painstaking 23-ball 1 in the first innings of the Lord’s Test.

But then, Rahane proved that he is still extremely valuable for the Indian side by scoring a classy 61 off 146 deliveries in the second innings. And, it was his 100-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara that played a key role in helping India post a 151-run win over their opposition.

And now, Rahane has taken to Instagram to take a cheeky dig at his trolls. Rahane has posted a picture of him smiling, and captioned it ‘My reaction when the trolls get trolled’.

Ajinkya Rahane has not had a successful run in 2021 in Test cricket

Ajinkya Rahane has experienced a very poor run with the willow in 2021 in the whites. In the 15 innings that he has played for India in the longest format of the game this year, the diminutive right-hander has managed to score just 330 runs.

Also, in the 15 innings that he has batted this year, Rahane has been dismissed for a single-digit score on 6 occasions as well. He has scored just a couple of fifties in Tests played this year and is surely not in the best of form with the willow in hand.

Rahane is a veteran of Indian cricket and has been playing for the country for a decade now. The right-handed willow wielder has also represented the country in 76 Test matches. The Indian vice-captain has scored 4714 runs in Tests and has scored his runs at an average of 40.64.

The 33-year-old batsman has also plundered 12 hundreds and 24 fifties for the Indian side in Test match cricket. Rahane will next be seen in action when India takes on England in the third Test at Headingley on 25th August 2021.
