India are up against England in the fourth match of the Test series at The Oval and things still don’t seem to get right for Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Losing the toss, India were called to show up with the willows and the decision again didn’t turn out good for the visitors. The opening and middle order came and went in no time.

While Virat Kohli just seemed to settle and got to his half-century, he again got dismissed right after it. This time, Ollie Robinson won the contest and got the better of the Indian skipper. The inswinger just took the outside edge of Kohli and landed safely in the hand of Jonny Bairstow.

It has to be noted that Rahane was playing alongside Kohli while the latter left.  Rahane who is also struggling with his dismal form with the bat needs to rise on the occasion to put India in a fine position. India are currently batting on 107/5 (at the time of writing) and Rahane and Rishabh Pant have taken up the responsibility.

Ravi Ashwin’s absence from the 4th Test became another talking point of the match as he was very much expected to take the field for India. It was said that the pitch might start turning during the 2nd innings at Oval and Ashwin will be vital at that point. However, Kohli and management again went with four seamers and Ravindra Jadeja.

“Two changes – Ishant and Shami have niggles – Umesh and Shardul are back. For us, it’s about partnerships, we can’t focus too much on individuals. England has four left-handers, so a good match-up for Jadeja, with our seamers bowling over the wicket. Also factors in his balance at No.7. The opening partnership has been amazing for us, it’s about getting together as batsmen. A few days left on this tour, the series is poised beautifully, and no shortage of effort, for sure,” said Kohli on the team combination earlier.

It remains to be seen if India can still get an upper hand on hosts in the Oval Test match.
