England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the T20 International squad for the series against Australia and India. They are scheduled to play their arch-rivals in the one-off game on June 27 in Birmingham after which they will lock horns against the Men in Blue in three matches in the format. Eoin Morgan will lead the side even as their pacer Mark Wood has been rested. However, the series is a much-awaited one with the likes of Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes set to miss it due to the injury concerns.

The selectors have picked a 14-man squad for the T20Is and the team is looking extremely strong. England has become a force to reckon with ever since they have changed the way they play in the shorter formats after the debacle in 2015 World Cup. The approach has worked in their favour a lot as the side includes a lot of promising youngsters as well.

Malan dropped from the squad

The official website of ECB confirmed the news as Joe Root returned to the T20I squad for England who was rested for the Trans-Tasman series. Interestingly, Dawid Malan has been dropped from the team who batted beautifully in the series and he currently averages 50 in the shortest format with a more than impressive strike-rate of 150. The pace bowler Mark Wood has been rested following his workload with the ball in the recent times.

Ben Stokes will be with the team throughout the series and is expected to be added to the set up depending on his progress from the injury. Tom Curran and Sam Curran both have been included this time and the brothers will be eager to make a mark in the upcoming 4 T20 Internationals.

The batting line-up of England looks a deadly combination with the likes of Alex Hales, Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Eoin Morgan present in the top 5. Jos Buttler is a T20 specialist as the home side is expected to rule both India and Australia on the basis of their recent form.
