England include in-form Jonny Bairstow for Sri Lanka series

England has retained the services of wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow for the upcoming ODIs and T20Is against Sri Lanka. Bairstow was one of the standout players for England and also concluded the Test series as the top run-getter having amassed 387 runs in the series including two massive tons. This also included a wonderfully compiled 167 at Lords, a performance that saw him go up on the Lords honors board.
Bairstow reiterated the same, stating that he was indeed delighted to be back in the side after being left out and out of favor with the likes of Jos Buttler and Sam Billings coming into the squad.
“I’m delighted to be back in the limited-overs squads. I feel like I’m striking the ball well,” Bairstow told reporters.
“To be back in England and hit the ground running was the main aim. I wanted to back up the form I’ve shown for Yorkshire,” he added. “I felt like I had a few people to prove wrong. This series and in South Africa I think I’ve done that.”
Trevor Bayliss, the coach of the England side also resonated the same happiness. “The form of Jonny Bairstow with the bat has been phenomenal. He’s really come of age and looks like he belongs here,” the Australian said.
England has also decided to include James Vince in the ODI and T20I sides despite his terrible performances in the Test series. Tymal Mills, whose 93 mile-per-hour delivery against Chris Gayle in the NatWest T20 blast has been doing the rounds has also been included in the T20 squad. Uncapped player Dawid Malan has also been included on the side.
