The Windies team, boosted by the return of their star players is set to take on England in order to seal a direct qualification into the ICC World Cup 2019 ahead of Sri Lanka. For that to happen, the Windies need a washout or have to win at least four ODIs with one game ending without a result. Things won’t be easy for the visitors who will face England, the best limited-overs team at the moment.

Here we look at key numbers and stats ahead of the series.

0.2 – Windies’ win-loss ratio in ODI cricket since 2008 in England is the 2nd lowest for any team. They lost five out of seven ODIs in the last 10 years in England and won only one. Ireland lost both the ODI games they played in England since 2008.

0.388 – They have a win-loss ratio of 0.388 in ODI format since the start 2016 which is the lowest for any team while England’s 2.444 is the highest. West Indies lost 18 ODIs and won seven in this period while England won 22 ODIs and lost nine.

1 – Number of wins for Windies in their last 13 ODI matches against England. Their lone win in those 13 games was in the ODI at North Sound in 2014 which they won by a 15-run margin.

47 – Number of wickets Moeen Ali has taken in his ODI career so far. He needs three more wickets to complete the ODI double of 1000 runs and 50 wickets. Only four players from England have managed to do this and Moeen will be the first spinner from his country if he achieves it.

199 – Number of wickets Adil Rashid has to his name in List A cricket so far. He needs one more wicket to complete 200 wickets in this format. Rashid played 49 ODIs so far and the first game he plays in the series will be his 50th ODI.

4979 – Runs Joe Root has scored in his List A career so far. He needs 21 more runs to complete 5000 runs in List A cricket. Root currently has 3801 runs in ODI cricket and needs to score 199 runs in this series to become the 3rd fastest to 4000 ODI runs.

999 – Runs Chris Gayle has aggregated against England in ODIs. He is one run away from becoming only the 3rd player to score 1000 runs in England-Windies ODIs.

2007 – The last instance when Windies won an ODI in England against the hosts was at Nottingham in 2007 where the visiting side won by eight wickets.
