Australia took a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series against England as they got the better of hosts at the Old Trafford by 19 runs. The England pacers and Adil Rashid reduced the visitors down to 123/5 by 24th over. But Mitchell Marsh (73) and Glenn Maxwell (77) added 126 for the 6th wicket to help Australia to finish on 294/9.

Josh Hazlewood’s opening spell reduced England to 57/4 by 17th over before Jonny Bairstow (84) and Sam Billings (118) rescued the chase with a 113-run stand. Billings scored his maiden International ton and batted till the last ball but couldn’t take England past the winning line.

Here are all the statistical highlights from Australia’s 19-run victory in the Manchester ODI:

Australia’s rare win over England:

3-11 – Only the 3rd time in 14 ODIs since 2017 that Australia has won an ODI against England. This was also only the 2nd win in nine ODIs for Australia against England in England across the last four years.

A rare player of the match award for Hazlewood:

1 – The player of the match award in Manchester ODI was Josh Hazlewood’s first outside Australia in International cricket. This was Hazlewood’s 4th player of the match award in Internationals and first since the start of 2016.

10 – Josh Hazlewood now has dismissed Joe Root on ten occasions in International cricket. Hazlewood and Pat Cummins (10) are the only bowlers against whom Root has got out as many times in Internationals.

Morgan @ 200:

200 – Eoin Morgan’s six in the bowling of Josh Hazlewood in this game was the 200th maximum in the ODI format for him while representing England. He is now the first player to smash 200 ODI sixes for England and only the 8th player with 200+ ODI sixes for a country.

A record knock from Billings:

118 – Sam Billings’ 118-run knock is the 3rd highest individual ODI score while batting at No.6 or lower for England. Jos Buttler scored 129 during the 2015 Birmingham ODI against New Zealand at No.6 and also struck 121 against Sri Lanka in the 2014 Lord’s ODI.

Zampa’s record 4-fer:

1 – Adam Zampa became the first Australian spinner to pick a 4-wicket haul in Men’s ODI cricket against England in England. Zampa is the 3rd Aussie spin bowler after David Hussey (4/21 in 2011 Adelaide ODI) and Glenn Maxwell (4/46 in 2015 Perth ODI) to take a 4-wicket haul in Men’s ODI cricket against England.

Rashid goes past Anderson:

40 – Number of wickets for Adil Rashid in ODI cricket against Australia; the most number of ODI wickets for England against the Aussies. Rashid went past James Anderson’s tally of 38 wickets by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne.

Cummins’ costliest spell:

74 – Runs conceded by Pat Cummins in his ten overs on Friday; the joint-most he gave away in an ODI. Cummins conceded 74 runs during the 2015 Hobart also against England.
