After being part of the T20I series where all matches went down the wire, England and Australia will lock horns in a 3-match ODI series at the Old Trafford. This will be the first time since the 2019 CWC where England will take the field in an ODI with a near full-strength side. Australia will be looking to keep down England’s recent dominance over them in white-ball formats. This series will mark the visitors’ debut in the ODI Super League who are going to play an ODI for the first time since March.

Here are all the key stats and numbers to look out ahead of the 3-match ODI series in Manchester:

11-2 – England has a win-loss record of 11-2 in the ODI format against Australia since the beginning of 2017. In this duration, England won seven of the eight ODIs they played against the Aussies at home.

29.23 – Batting average of Joe Root against Australia in ODI cricket. The Aussies are the only team against whom Root has averaged less than 45 in ODI format despite batting five or more innings. In fact, Australia is also the only opponent that did not concede an ODI ton for Root despite playing a minimum of five ODIs. Root scored 614 runs across 25 innings against them with help of five fifties.

30 – David Warner and Steve Smith average 32 and 33.23 respectively against England in the ODI format. England is the only opponent against whom the duo averages less than 35 in ODIs. (Min: 5 innings)

Warner scored 640 runs in 21 innings against the English team with help of a century and five fifties. On the other hand, Smith scored 864 runs in 30 innings against England with a hundred and three fifties.

38 – Adil Rashid has claimed as many as 38 wickets in ODI cricket against Australia; the joint-most for England against them alongside James Anderson’s 38 scalps. Adil picked those 38 wickets from only 21 ODIs with help of three 4-wicket hauls and a strike rate of 30.6.

199 – Number of sixes Eoin Morgan has hit in the ODI format while playing for England. Morgan needs one more six to become the first player to smash 200 ODI sixes for England.

On the other hand, Jos Buttler (98) is two sixes away from becoming the 2nd player after Eoin Morgan (150) to hit 100 International sixes on English soil.

200 – The first match that Moeen Ali plays in this series will be his 200th appearance in International cricket. The all-rounder (4958) is also 42 runs away from completing 5000 runs in International cricket.

926 – Jos Buttler has scored 926 runs across 27 ODI innings against Australia which are the most number of runs for him against any opposition. Buttler needs 74 more runs to become the 4th England player with 1000+ ODI runs against Australia.

4882 – Runs Aaron Finch has aggregated in his 126-match ODI career. Finch needs 118 more runs to complete 5000 ODI runs and would be the 2nd quickest Australian to this milestone in Men’s cricket if he gets there in this series.
